Image Archive Help

The International Organisation of Palaeobotany has developed an Image Archive in order to provide high quality images from our subject that may be reproduced in print or electronic medium for teaching, and for non-profit educational and research purposes, without fees or further permissions.

This system is intended to develop into a resource for palaeobotany and related disciplines that relies entirely on the active involvement of the membership. If users require use of the images for any purpose other than that specified above, they should obtain written permission from the image provider.

Images intended for the International Organisation of Palaeobotany's Image Archive need to comply with the following conditions:

  1. The image should be in .jpg or .jpeg formats. Other formats are currently not accepted.
  2. Individual images should be less than 1 MB in size.
  3. The image provider must be the owner of the image and ensure that its use is not in breach of any copyright agreement that relates to the same image. In cases such as museum specimens, it is the responsibility of the image provider to obtain permission for the image of the specimen to be used in the International Organisation of Palaeobotany's Image Archive.
  4. Each member has a default allocation of 10 MB for images. Individuals' disk quotas can be increased on request from the webmaster.
  5. Images should directly relate to palaeobotany including palaeo-palynology. Images that do not satisfy this requirement will not be approved for inclusion into the Image Archive.
  6. On submitting an image the provider agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of the International Organisation of Palaeobotany's Image Archive and agrees that downloaded images may only be reproduced in print or electronic medium for teaching, and for non-profit educational and research purposes, without fees or further permissions. The International Organisation of Palaeobotany reserves the right to withdraw this permission without notice. Written permission is required from the individual who provided this image to the International Organisation of Palaeobotany's Image Archive for all other forms of capture, reproduction and/or distribution in any other way.
  7. Descriptions should be accurate and informative; unsatisfactory contents will be returned to the provider for emendating before approval is given to include the image in the Image Archive.
