Applications open to attend the Summer School 2026: Trait-based Paleoecology and Deep time Earth Systems: From cells to ecosystems across the Phanerozoic. Students are strongly encouraged (student travel, housing, and food are supported!)
Course Information: A training course aimed at graduate students and other early-career researchers interested in trait-based paleoecology. Attendees will be trained to make measurements from xylem fossils, estimate paleo-traits, and simulate deep-time ecosystem processes. Additionally, field trips will take students to an established fossil locality and a world-renowned botanical garden to provide hands-on context for interpreting plant fossils as once-living organisms. The course will be a mix of lecture and hands-on elements, and aims to prepare scientists to maximize the utility of the fossil record to understand Earth’s deep past.
Where: Haverford College in Haverford, PA
When: Tuesday, June 2nd, to Thursday, June 11th.
Target Audience: Graduate Students interested in ecohydrology, paleoecology, trait-based ecology and other related fields. Applications from post-doctoral researchers and advanced undergraduates will also be considered.
